Today I was reviewing my finances when I saw I still hadn’t received a refund for an April concert. I looked through my email and it was rescheduled for August 30th. I miss seeing bands in concert, but that still doesn’t sound safe to me. So I reached out to see if I was eligible for a refund. The venue’s sales manager responded within the hour. And I realized how hard it must be for that industry too. That a real person was available to respond that quickly. I thanked her and wished her good health and again she responded to thank me.

At work I cancelled another Fall meeting. Thankfully the group really wants to go there so I asked if we could rebook the program for a year later. Again, a response in less than an hour. “We completely understand.”  “We would be happy to.” They already took a sizable deposit from us that will transfer to the new booking. I hope that does something to help the staff for now. So many good contacts have been furloughed and then let go. So many good people.

An email with a new contact. I think this is the third hotel chain account manager to be let go. All women that were a pleasure to work with. All women it is an honor to be friends with.

Tonight I saw an article about how that live music industry is looking for relief too. More good people trying to make ends meet.

I used to think I would meet the perfect person at a concert venue. Someone who was as passionate about the music I love as I am. Someone who was thrilled to see musicians play to smaller crowds of true fans. Someone who would keep showing up at every show I went to. So every concert I go to I look around to see if they’re there. If they’re looking for me too.

I’ll just have to wait for live music to come back to see if this person will come back. Will show up.

Until then, there’s Swans by Camera Obscura and dancing in your room as you get ready for bed.
